Tube crimps that look identical to this but are of lighter weight will act a lot like aluminum foil and hold, literally, nothing. These are nice heavy weight crimps which will finish beautifully. Crimp flat or use a crimping pliers; when using a crimping tool, excellent results are achieved by crimping with indenting area of of the pliers, but not rounding the bead afterward as you would with base metal or gold-filled crimps. This traps the wire in a tube on either side, holds the work securely, and results in a very pretty finish. Gold-filled and base metal crimps actually weaken when indented, and tend to break at the indention, one reason why they are normally then rounded.
