Glowing and White Akoya
The traditional cultured pearl was once a sea pearl
The Akoya is rightly prized
Because of the superior lustre it attains.
Your Grandma might have had Akoyas that cost a pretty penny
And were grown for several years in the sea.
These days some shortcuts have developed
In pearl cultivation.
Akoyas take so long to grow from a tiny seed
That they are difficult to afford.
Freshwaters grow very fast
And give the Akoya and other sea pearls
A lot of competition. So growers have learned
How to use a larger bead in cultivation
And this results in a sea pearl that still has lustre
But is much more affordable.
The less nacre, though, sometimes makes them
Less durable than freshwaters or expensive sea pearls.
So if you're looking for an affordable Akoya
It's important to find one that has enough nacre to last.
That's one reason the baroque Akoyas are a good choice,
Because the extra nacre that makes up the little "tail"
Shows that the pearl has been in the oyster a little longer.
These pearls are unsorted, which means they have been strung
Directly after drilling, without resorting to further define the grade,
So you will find a few flaws.
Not many,
But you will want to sort the pearls yourself
To make sure the very loveliest are right up front.
And put the loveliest right up front.
The beautiful lustre of these pearls will delight you.
You don't have to spend hundreds for a glorious
Knotted strand of white pearls.
We've got you covered!
These pearls usually sell for half again what we're asking
In this very special offering. Get them while you can!
One Beautiful 16 Inch Strand of 7mm White Round Akoya Pearls.
