The Real Thing
There are a lot of different types of amazonite.
The immense country of China
Contains many rich mines with many stones
And much amazonite comes from China these days.
That type of amazonite is a pale blue
Very pretty, and we like it fine.
But from Russia, where amazonite was originally mined,
Comes a much more dramatic stone.
Russian amazonite is deeply saturated with color
Striated with swirls of white and some matrix in rust
Layered in lighter and darker hues
Of an incredible teal color
Unmistakable, immediately recognizable
Greener than turquoise or lapis,
And much more blue than jade--
Just beautiful! And this is a nice large 10mm round,
Great for a knotted strand all by itself
Or easy to mix with other green and blue stones.
